RaelPress.org scrubs CLONAID

The official site for press releases by the International Raelian Movement (IRM), RaelPress, has scrubbed all news between January 2001 to May 2004 in an apparent attempt to disassociate itself from claims of human clones made by CLONAID during that time. That's the period when the CLONAID hoax was in the limelight.

A search for "clonaid" produces only 6 results from the entire press site. None of the entries make direct references to CLONAID's claim of being the first company to have successfully cloned a human being:

It's been 20 years since Rael founded CLONAID (initially called Valiant Venture) as a publicity stunt. While it's claimed that the supposed cloning company is completely independent from Rael and the IRM, all of the people involved with the former were indeed all dedicated IRM members.

One such person is Damien M., who had devoted 33 years of his life to Rael. With a background in biotechnology, he was used as a poster boy for CLONAID as part of its scientific team.

However, more than a decade later, in early 2016, he was excommunicated by Rael for finally denouncing Raelian Bishop Brigitte Boisselier, who runs CLONAID, for lying to the media about producing human clones (to date, 13 clones have been claimed) to effectively publicize Raelism to the world. In fact, in 2003, Rael gloated about running a successful media campaign that allowed him to reach one of his 2 main goals: to spread the Raelian Messages worldwide (Susan Palmer, Aliens Adored, p. 191). Rael instead accused Damien of lying and making everything up before expelling him from his cult.

Rael's Elohim Tight-lipped about Top Secrets

Rael has a new conspiracy  theory website called Elohim Leaks where he periodically publishes "top secret" messages from the Elohim, the so-called "advanced, extraterrestrial scientists who created all life on Earth, including us."

The website claims that:

"the Elohim are still watching everything that happens on Earth. No so-called “top secret” information is secret from them, and there is nothing any individual, group or government body can do to change that."

To date, 8 "leaks" have been published with the latest one claiming that:

"the 60 richest people on Earth are now secretly building an underground complex that can withstand any nuclear, chemical or biological world war or world revolution." 

In a bid to eradicate nuclear war, the message concludes with:

"It’s a top priority for peace lovers to find and destroy such a place to prevent any escape for these 60 people. They are the 0.000001% who own the planet, and they will want it for themselves after financing a world war that would destroy the rest of humanity. If they have no place to escape to, they will stop financing the next nuclear world war."

However, the problem is, as with the rest of the Elohim Leaks, Rael doesn't divulge vital information, such as where exactly this underground complex is being built!! LOL

"The location is of course top secret; even the people who will be accepted in this complex will never know the precise location until they arrive there safely. There is a strong suspicion that it may be hidden behind, connected to, or close to the Svalbard Global Seed Vault financed by Bill Gates, the Rockefeller family, Monsanto and others."

With the likes of billionaires such as Bill Gates, Warren Buffett and George Soros being Raelian Honorary Guides, there might be a small conflict of interest here against being completely forthcoming with confidential information. LOL

Rael's Progressive Patronizing Parasitism of Science

The paper titled NEW RELIGIOUS MOVEMENTS AND SCIENCE: RAEL'S PROGRESSIVE PATRONIZING PARASITISM by Stefano Bigliardi appears in the journal of religion and science, Zygon® (March 2015, Volume 50, Issue 1, pages 64–83).

The abstract as published is as follows:

The article examines the concoction of religion and “science” contained in the revelation that substantiates a new religion: Raelianism, founded and led by the prophet Claude Vorilhon/Rael after having received a revelation in 1974. After a detailed examination both of Rael's prophetic message and his/the Raelians’ interpretative practices, an ad hoc model is presented to describe such concoction (“progressive patronizing parasitism”), and it is compared to other models. It is in particular claimed that Rael, while seemingly talking about “science,” is actually constructing a science-fictional and even pseudoscientific narrative. The article finally raises the question whether the discussion of the science–religion interaction from the viewpoint of traditional religions can be considered to be immune to the usage of such rhetorical devices.

The paper describes how Rael engages with the concept of science/technology and uses 3 interrelated aspects to make Raelian doctrine appear to be scientific (and therefore, rational and factual), that of being (1) progressive, (2) patronizing, and (3) parasitic. The following is an overview, expressed in my own understanding, of what Dr. Bigliardi means by using these specific terms:

[RAEL FAIL] The END GAME and Secret Israeli Conspiracies

It is a Raelian tradition that every year, between the evening of August 5th to the early hours of the 6th, Rael allegedly receives a telepathic message from his alleged ET father, Yahweh. This year, the message contains 2 basic points:

(1) the chance of Humanity self-destructing is now 99.5%, and

(2) the Elohim has withdrawn its protection over the State of Israel and urges all people of Jewish descent to flee Israel.

The first part of the latest revelation was announced by Rael in a speech on August 6th he delivered in Okinawa to his followers. You can view the speech on You Tube.

In it, Rael declares at the 2:20 mark of the video how the US had committed the "most criminal crime against humanity of [sic.] all history of humanity" for killing over 300,000 people in an instance by dropping atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He then says that "nobody ever killed 300,000 persons in 1 second." At 3:18, he says that the US was worse than Adolf Hitler and his Nazi regime, since the latter couldn't exterminate as efficiently than the former.

Trouble is, according to Raelian scriptures, the alleged scientific creators of life on this planet, the Elohim, had used deadly atomic bombs to kill countless more humans on several occasions:

"The government [of the Elohim] then decided from their distant planet to destroy all life on Earth by sending nuclear missiles." (The Flood, p. 20, Intelligent Design)

"[The Elohim] warned those who were peaceful to leave the city because they were going to destroy it with an atomic explosion." (Sodom and Gomorrah, p. 23)

"At a given moment, the ultrasounds were emitted in a synchronized way, and the walls fell down. A little later, some real bombing took place. [..] This full scale bombing, as indicated, killed more people than the swords of the Israelites." (The Trumpets of Jericho, p. 33)

The last example of the Elohim's aggression above is ironic due to the fact in the second and official part of the latest revelation addressed to the "Jewish people", as published on Raelianews.org, Rael/Yahweh declares:

"You have betrayed all the exemplary values of Judaism by stealing the land and houses which don’t belong to you, and especially by not respecting my most important commandment: “Thou shall not kill” and accumulating nuclear weapons capable of killing millions of people in one go and sparking off a world war capable of destroying all of our creation."

The Battle of Jericho took place long after Moses was given the commandments contained in the Torah. There are numerous recorded killings by the Elohim/Yahweh (directly, or ordered to men to kill) in the Bible. It's estimated the total number is 25 million, with 20 million accounting for the Flood.

Towards the end of his speech at 17:00, Rael assures his followers how the Elohim will come and save all Raelians. With "over 90,000" Raelians worldwide, it is fast approaching the limit of 144,000, i.e. of how many will be saved according to Raelian scriptures (The Apocalypse of the Final Nuclear Cataclysm, p. 298).

Rael ends his speech by reminding his followers how the Elohim, follow everyone and records everything each person does, in a creepy Big Brotherly way, yet to feel their love and light guiding the special Raelian diamonds that they are.

Given a prediction each year of the chance Humanity will self-destruct, isn't it odd when faced with a 99% chance, it doesn't? Rael claims at 7:10, that this statistic is from the "most advanced computer in the universe of Elohim". After all, it does rain if our lowly earth-based computers and meteorologists predict a 99% chance of rain tomorrow. LOL

In the second part of this year's alleged telepathic message, Rael/Yahweh makes a distinction among "real Jews", "true Jews" and "false Jews". The "real Jews" are the people who are from the Levant and whose ancestors didn't leave to other parts of the world in the Diaspora. The "true Jews" are the Raelians, who are anti-Zionist and who want to build the Third Temple, i.e. the Embassy for the Elohim. And the "false Jews" are the descendants of Jews who migrated to Europe and who comprise the bulk of the Zionist movement.

Rael/Yahweh urges "real Jews" to flee Israel and "live among the other Nations of Earth while refusing to carry arms for any nation and to benefit every nation with their genius and creativity" because the Elohim will no longer "protect" Israel.

Raelian scriptures hold that the Jews are the most intelligent "race" of humans because they were designed that way, and additionally the offspring of unions between the Elohim and Jewish women. (Genesis, p. 18; The Flood, p. 19; The People of Israel and the Jews, p. 230) However, we know that a very disproportionate number of Nobel Prize winners are the "false Jews" of European descent.

It's interesting to note how Rael's biological father, Marcel, was a European Jew from Alsace, France, according to Rael's aunt, Therese Vorilhon. (Susan Palmer, Aliens Adored, p. 32)

Rael/Yahweh accuses "false Jews" of stealing Palestinian land, bombing "the concentration camp which is Gaza and are even projecting a final solution with the goal of Palestinian genocide."

It's again interesting to note that, according to Raelian scriptures, the creation of the State of Israel is one sign of the "Apocalypse", the time of great scientific progress and the return of the Elohim (The End of the World, p. 81). It is claimed that Rael was conceived, through artificial insemination by the Elohim, on December 25th, 1945 (My Life before the First Encounter, p. 123)... at a time *before* the UN General Assembly proposed to divide Palestine into an Arab and Jewish state on November 29, 1947, and subsequent declaration of an independent State of Israel on May 14th, 1948. The Zionist movement began in the late 19th century and continued well after 1973 when Rael was first allegedly contacted by the Elohim to be their Messiah. In other words, the Elohim have knowingly protected Zionism and never declared before how the Palestinians are "in fact mostly the descendants of real Jews who converted to Islam a very long time ago." Rael's original books never bothered to mention the injustices caused by the creation of the State of Israel.

Rael/Yahweh urges "real Jews" to convert to Raelianism as soon as possible. That'll hasten the number of Raelian to approach the limit, though.

And now that Rael is 70 years old and having failed to construct the Embassy in Israel, is now pretending to take away some "protection" that never existed in the first place. Had Israel given permission to build the Embassy, would the Elohim be so unprincipled to accept such an offer from people they clearly despise?

What "protection" is needed when Israel has 200 atomic bombs, as Rael claims in the August 6th speech (at the 13:16 mark)? Rael further claims of an Israeli secret plan, called the "Masada Project", to start WWIII by sending off atomic bombs if attacked by neighboring countries. But, isn't it ironic for the Elohim to remove the protection without which such a scenario might not take place in the Raelian mind?

To further bolster his doomsday claims, Rael has recently commented on Facebook under the hashtag #ELOHIMLEAKS, a series of secret Israeli conspiracies by Mossad to kill all Palestinians and himself, as exposed by the Elohim, and of course telepathically to him only. LOL

Looks like the Raelian Movement has entered the final stages of Rael's mission. Rael is likely to crunch up his doomsday propaganda as he ages with Raelians ready to drop everything to be "lifted up" into the Elohim's spacecrafts. With Rael suddenly dead, possibly more by suicide, his followers are likely to kill themselves too in the conviction that the Elohim will save them by recreating them through cloning from cell samples that they know the Elohim must surely have obtained beforehand... just like they'd believe Rael was also saved and is alive awaiting reunification in the Planet of Eternal Life. :/

[RAEL FAIL] Geniocracy and Humanitarianism replaced by Direct Democracy and Paradism

One of the fundamental tenets of Raelism is to establish Geniocracy, which is a form of a selective representative government comprised exclusively of super-intelligent people (having an IQ above 50% of the average) elected by an above-average intelligent electorate (having an IQ above 10% of the average). The rationale behind this imperative dictated in 1974 is that:

Votes only have a positive effect when there is an equivalence of knowledge and intellect. Copernicus was condemned by a majority of incompetent people because he was the only one at that time who had a sufficiently high level of comprehension. Although the Church- that is to say the majority - believed the Earth was the center of the universe, this turned out to be wrong. The Earth really revolved around the sun, and Copernicus - the minority - turned out to be right. (Intelligent Design, p. 96)

In his book dedicated to the subject published in 1978, Rael writes:

And why are those governing us so incompetent? 

They’re  incompetent  because  they  were  elected  for  their  job democratically. Pure democracy cannot take voter intelligence into account, which means the voice of an Einstein is given no greater weight than that of an idiot. And since there are far more idiots than Einsteins,  we  find  ourselves  under  the  dictatorship  of  idiocy. (Geniocracy, p. xv)

In other words, Rael is alluding to the dangers in the tyranny of the masses, wherein the majority of a population not only may place its interests above those of an individual or minority group, constituting active oppression comparable to that of tyrants and despots, but how the majority necessarily gravitates towards average intelligence which he dismisses collectively as "idiots". Geniocracy, then, is essentially a "dictatorship of genius".

Geniocracy assumes that a minority of geniuses will always be fair and make the right decisions for all concerned... kind of like a benevolent dictator of sorts who would take care of the people who can't help themselves because of their inferior intelligence.

Yet, in Rael's latest book published in 2001, that focuses on the paradisaical world we could soon achieve through technology, much like the advanced civilization of the creator-ETs known as the Elohim in the mythos of Raelism, he hypocritically advocates Pure Democracy through the use of the Internet:

People could go to a Web page that would display the latest information on old laws which need revision or amending, and new laws which require approval. The Web page could include each party’s position on these laws, as well as links to the advice of specialists in the field. Then, every citizen would be able to vote directly via the internet.

The government should be ready to accept and implement the decisions made by the population.

This is a true direct democracy made possible by technology.. [ ].. This  will ensure a true democracy by which the people can only gain. (Yes to Human Cloning, pp. 85-86)

Peruvian UFO (High-altitude Kite) Supports ET Embassy, Raelians Say

A recent press release by IRM claims that the Elohim (ETs, Raelians believe created life on Earth) have lent their support for the first ever South American "Happiness Academy" because it can't be coincidence that a UFO just happened to have appeared and hovered for more than 2 hours over Lima’s Miraflores neighborhood while the Raelians were holding a press conference nearby on 10 February!

The press release includes a video link released by Eduardo Chávez Guerra of the alleged UFO. Here's an HD screen-cap of the UFO:

Incredible, you might think... and you'd be right since last year on 11 April, a similar UFO sighting occurred in the Netherlands, in the town of Maassluis, and captured on video by a man named Dick Smits. Here's a screen-cap of the UFO:

After some investigation by the good peeps at Metabunk, it turns out that high-altitude kites, known as rokkaku dako, have often been used for KAP (kite aerial photography) in the precise location. These large kites are pretty stable and so appear to hover in the ski. The kite in this incident was above the port of Rotterdam. A Dutch KAP enthusiast named Hansel Elbers posted a pic of the port on his Flickr taken from his kite:

Now, what's interesting is how almost identical the Lima, Miraflores UFO is to the debunked Dutch case above except for the colors:

Turns out, thanks for the investigation by the good peeps at Above Top Secret, that a Peruvian kite enthusiast named Aurelio Rodriguez spotted a rokkaku dako on the day the Miraflores sighting occurred and left a comment under a You Tude video of a TV report:

"Gentlemen, it is a large kite that was being flown from the Costanera Avenue, "at the foot of the cliff" of the Costa Verde, as Julio Ramón Ribeyro would say. I was lucky to be passing by this street at that same time, going from south to north direction airport, and I could see it up and close (I took a photo and video with my cell phone). I must admit that at first, when I saw it from afar (from a distance of at least four kilometers) I was struck by its large size and its stability (a cute kite, I think it's a version of the "Hergraves Box Kite" ). If you take a stroll along the fancy fair in Costa Verde (where they built the "Paris-Dakar Race Village" a few months ago) and ask the people working at the site, they will confirm my story, and perhaps you get to see the comet again. Excuse me for being a spoilsport but much of my job revolves around observing flying objects ..."

The color scheme matches perfectly with the alleged UFO in the Eduardo video and Aurelio's rokkaku dako;

So, it seems the Raelians have made a big faux pas on this one! LOL

Rael's NON-VIOLENT NON-FATAL legal action

Rael says that to be non-violent does not mean we give up our rights to self-defense. He says, if someone intends to kill us, then we should render our assailant powerless through force if necessary, but never with the intent to kill. (Intelligent Design, p. 204)

But, at the same time, Rael says Raelians should sue people who defame or offend Rael and Raelism (please refer to Contact 252 which is also referenced in White Knights 2). A legal suit, for Rael, is the appropriate non-violent action of self-defense. For Rael, that's using one's strength non-violently; it's to reduce the power of someone who verbally attacks Rael by any non-fatal means. Rael's "means" here is the "non-violent" use of money. And not surprisingly, Rael has a good track record of suing his opponents left and right. A good portion of the IRM's (International Raelian Movement) budget is allocated to paying for legal fees.

 

So wait... what's the result of such a legal action? Money as compensation for slander/libel. Does this mean, people who defamed Rael actually stopped him from getting richer?? If a court decides in favor of Rael, he makes money while the accused loses money. Is that fair? How exactly did the accused harm Rael and his club? Did they steal Rael's money or infringed on his copyrights to make money? Or, did they just throw words at Rael? 

  

Shouldn't Rael and his minions retaliate with intellectual debate and public protests (burning my notes, for example) instead of taking legal action whenever someone unjustifiably offends or defames them? Isn't Rael using the power of money to silence his critics and take away their rights of speech... and even harming them emotionally and physically, especially when there is no evidence for defamation?

Is it my right of speech to say Rael is lying when he claims he met the Elohim? Am I lying? Am I defaming Raelism? If I believe in abiogenesis and biological evolution to be true, is Rael lying to me with his fantastic story? Is Rael defaming and offending Science instead? All one needs to differentiate who is in the wrong is evidence... Rael has no evidence of his alien encounter while science has ample evidence to back up its robust theories.

Can paying off legal compensation destroy an individual's life? Can it be life-threatening? Is suing someone really a non-violent and non-fatal action of self-defense?

The passage in the Messages advising the use of force in self-defense is actually referring to how to address an immediate threat of physical violence upon a person and not to defamation and/or offensive words. But when Rael justifies suing someone for supposed slander/libel, he is essentially being violent towards a non-violent person in the name of self-defense. However, if someone threatens to physically harm or kill Rael or Raelians, then it is clearly justified to use legal means to diffuse that threat.

With regards to forgiveness, Rael says he forgives those who ask for forgiveness and apologize to him. But, in his book, we find written instead:

Forgive those who have done you harm unintentionally, and bear no grudge against those who have willingly done you harm. They are ill, for one must be ill to harm one’s neighbor. Besides, think how unfortunate those people are, who do harm others, because they will not have the right to eternal life in the gardens of the Elohim. (p.204) 

In other words, the Messages advise Raelians to forgive even before someone asks to forgive them. Defend yourself against this, Rael!

As for Raelians, you are well versed in Rael's preaching of being responsible for every action you take... especially when it results in violence or a fatality. So, know that by giving Rael your money, which he then uses to sue people, you may be then be responsible for causing harm to others unjustifiably.

[RAEL FAIL] Japanophilia

In Contact 348 published April 2008, a speech by Rael in Tokyo expressing his unfaltered love for Japan is included:

I am happy to be here with you this year. I wanted to go back to Japan before going to see my father… I missed you so much. I don’t say that to make you happy. I love Japan and I say so everywhere in the world. Wherever I go, I always say ‘I love Japan’. I am not like politicians always saying what people want to hear. When I am in Switzerland or in America, I still say ‘I love Japan’.

Nothing wrong with loving a country, especially when the majority of one's followers are from that country. Rael currently lives in Okinawa ever since he fled to the island from the mainland when the big earthquake and subsequent tsunami caused the nuclear accident in Fukushima in 2011. It looks like Rael really loves it there that his right-hand-woman Brigitte Boisselier of Clonaid fame issued a letter urging Raelians around the world to give donations so that Rael can set up a Raelian commune of sorts in Okinawa.

But, he goes on:

Japanese are very special in the heart of the Elohim, very special. Elohim love everybody, but they have something special with Japan. Maybe it is because your culture is very close to Elohim’s culture. When coming out from his spacecraft, Yahwe didn’t shake my hands when he met me, but he bowed like you do. I was expecting to shake his hands. His face also looks like a Japanese face. Their civilization is all about beauty. Every garden on their planet was like Japanese gardens. Their food was beautiful, just like Japanese food is beautiful, not like Mac Donald’s food at all! Everything is beauty. They wear beautiful clothes that look like Japanese kimonos. Japan is very close to the Elohim’s civilization.

However, the following is what we find in the Raelian "Messages":

  "He smiled faintly, and I thought it best to return his smile. I felt rather ill at ease, so I smiled and [first] bowed my head slightly in greeting. He answered with the same gesture." (Intelligent Design, p. 6)

Do the Japanese "salute" as well? LOL

  "Having said that, the small man saluted me for the last time and told me that he would return only when all that he had asked of me was accomplished. Then he climbed back aboard his machine, and it took off and disappeared just as it had on other mornings." (p. 115)

About Japan being similar to the entire Elohim civilization:

[Rael] "Are the seven provinces of your world similar?"
[Yahweh] "No, as on Earth there are [seven] different races and cultures. Our provinces were created and based on those races and cultures, while respecting the freedom and independence of each one." (p. 114)

Auto Pop and the 1973 Oil Crisis

The 1973 Oil Crisis likely caused Rael to reinvent himself as a UFO cult leader because his career as a race-car "journalist" was severely impacted.

Sociologist Susan Palmer writes:

"It is perhaps significant that Claude Vorilhon's close encounter occurred less than a month after his 2nd career [as journalist after being a singer] screeched to a hault through no fault of his own. On November 30, 1973, French prime minister Pierre Messmer announced on TV a series of drastic measures to limit speed on French roads and to suspend all automobile races and rallies. Claude's sources of funding, both his journal, Auto Pop, and his test driving, were cut off." (Aliens Adored, p. 34)

Rael's magazine skipped an issue in January 1974. In the December 1973 issue, Rael mentions the ban on motor sports. In the February 1974 issue, Rael turns political can calls his readers to vote the government out of office. It's possible that Rael had spent the time between the December and February issues to invent his fantastic story of meeting ETs. LOL

Auto Pop's last issue was in September 1974 (incidentally, Rael published his 1st book in the autumn of 1974 [Intelligent Design, p. 138])...

The following is an excerpt from Rael's 2nd book, Extraterrestrials Took me to Their Planet (Raelian Foundation, 1975) describing his first wife's involvement in publishing and distribution his 1st book, The Book which Tells the Truth (Raelian Foundation, 1974):

"Alarmed by the mishap [of Rael's original manuscript not being returned to him promptly by a publisher named Marcel Jullian] and by the growing pile of letters from people interested in buying the book containing the message as soon as it was published, Marie-Paul [Rael's first wife] offered to leave her nursing job to help me with the publishing and distribution of this exceptional document." (Intelligent Design, p. 138)

However, sociologist Susan Palmer informs us of some contradictions between Rael's claims and Marie-Paul's own testimony:

"[Rael] awards his wife credit for offering to leave her nursing job to assist him in the publication and distribution of “that extraordinary document,” but she herself recently told a journalist that she had been unaware of his extraterrestrial encounters until the book came out. She also complained that once the family moved into a large medieval cottage in Perigord, people responding to Raël’s message were constantly coming and going - or staying. “It was a big house with open hospitality. Whoever wanted could come, and I was the maid,” she said (Chantepie 2003, 11)." (Aliens Adored, pp. 36-37)

The quote above was taken from an old Raelian video introducing Raelism.

The actual quote from Rael's book reads like this:

"When humanity discovered the necessary form of energy to travel to the moon, it also came to possess sufficient energy to destroy all life on Earth. "The hour has drawn near, and the moon is rent asunder" it says in the Koran, Sura 54, Verse 1. Therefore, any day now, humanity can destroy itself. Only those who follow the last of the prophets will be saved from destruction." (Intelligent Design, pp. 216-217) 

Turns out, this is NOT a prophecy or metaphor by Mohammed... it was supposed to be an actual miraculous event that split the Moon in half to show off to the disbelievers... which never really happened. LOL.

[RAEL FAIL] From MADECH to RAELIAN MOVEMENT

In Rael's 2nd book (end of 1975), he boasts about his 700-strong organization called MADECH* (movement for welcoming the Elohim, creators of humanity):

"Two years! For almost two years now I have been trying somehow to radiate this truth, which is too great for me... There are seven hundred of them as I pen these lines, and I understand how this is both few and many at the same time... Who are these seven hundred? Are they, as the scoffers would no doubt love to believe, average simpletons who could be made to swallow anything? Not at all. Some of them are university graduates or people holding PhD’s in philosophy, psychology, theology, sociology, medicine, physics, chemistry, etc. My admiration perhaps goes as much to those who have no degree, since although they have not acquired knowledge through studying that would allow them to realize that living matter and people like us can be created scientifically, they are still able to feel it intuitively, as people capable of mastering matter and putting themselves in harmony with the universe that they are.
I must say that I am optimistic on the whole, and that I believe that I have so far accomplished the mission that has been entrusted to me. For whatever happens to me, MADECH is up and running, and nothing will ever be able to stop it." (Intelligent Design, p. 122)

He adds:

"It was during June 1975 that I decided to resign as president of MADECH, first of all because it seemed that the movement could now manage very well without me, and secondly because I thought I had made a mistake in structuring the organization in accordance with a 1901 law that likened the movement, which is of such importance to humanity, to a petanque club or a war veterans’ association." (p. 142)

However, according to sociologist Susan Palmer, MADECH was NOT running so well since its inception in September 1974:

"In April 1975, Raël called an emergency general meeting to restructure the organization, and the diverging aims of the leadership became apparent; a major schism was brewing. Charles Aymonier, MADECH’s secretary, complained that the members of the executive were awarding themselves honorific titles like “secretary general” and “administrative director.” At the same time, they were trying to lay down rules to rein in Raël’s charismatic authority and “mettre au pas le prophete” (follow in the steps of the prophet). MADECH officials were becoming less interested in what Raël’s extraterrestrials were saying and more involved in networking with other ufology groups and trekkies. To exploit the entertainment potential of the ET phenomenon, they were planning a moneymaking lecture series, with other contactees as the invited speakers." (Aliens Adored, p. 37)

In July 1975, Rael staged a purging of leaders which hampered his own creativity and established the "Structure" of guides we see today. Later, after Rael wrote his 2nd book, in January 1976, MADECH had lost 90% of its members who were plotting a schism against Rael:

"Two years after its founding, MADECH was still giving Raël headaches, and in January 1976 he asked Jean Gary to move to Paris to help him resolve the mounting tensions within MADECH’s executive. This was difficult for Gary, but he complied and discovered that the Paris directors were “comploter contre” (plotting against) Raël (20 ans, 39). Raël instructed Gary to read the “Prayer to the Elohim” from Raël’s second book at the general assembly, and to order the dismantling of MADECH. Gary had difficulty gaining entrance to the meeting without a pass, but once inside, he showed the gathering Raël’s letter and read the prayer from the stage. Total silence followed, then 90 percent of the members got up and walked out of MADECH (from “Ecoutons Jean Gary” in 20 ans, 39)." (Aliens Adored, p. 39)

Rael subsequently renamed MADECH to the Raelian Movement in February 1976 (Aliens Adored, p. 39). However, a footnote in Intelligent Design, claims that the name was changed in 1975:

"In 1975, with the authorization of the Elohim, Rael changed the name of the movement to the International Raelian Movement." (Intelligent Design, p. 379)

[RAELIAN DISINFO] Rael's Disclaimer

In his disclaimer for selecting news for www.Rael-Science.org, Rael clarifies his position on the articles he selects: unless there's a comment by Rael, you are left guessing whether he supports it or not. He calls it "common sense"... but, many of his posts are from dubious and sensational sources that are filled with disinfo and pseudo-science [e.g. Rael frequently posts items from www.rense.com; www.naturalnews.com; www.mercola.com; www.huffingtonpost.com; www.dailymail.co.uk, etc.]. He finishes with a comment defending free-speech but misquotes Voltaire.

For someone whose brain has supposedly been modified by the Elohim to function at full capacity, how can Rael misquote Voltaire?? The quote above is attributed to Evelyn Beatrice Hall.  LOL

"Yahweh... then explained to me: ‘This machine will awaken certain faculties that lie dormant within you. Your brain will then be able to exploit its full potential. Sit down here.’ I sat down in the chair that he indicated, and a sort of shell covered my skull. I thought I was losing consciousness for a moment, and then it felt as if my head were about to explode. I saw multicolored flashes pass before my eyes. Finally, everything stopped, and a robot helped me out of the armchair. I felt terribly different. I had the impression that everything was simple and easy. Yahweh spoke again: ‘From now on, we will see through your eyes, hear through your ears, and speak through your mouth. We will even be able to heal through your hands, as we already do at Lourdes and in many other places in the world..'" (Intelligent Design, p. 171)

Perhaps, the Elohim don't have Google yet. : P

Raelism vs. Science: MARCEL TERUSSE's History of Humanity

Long-time Raelian Bishop Guide, Marcel Terusse proposed a "New Hypothesis for the History of Humanity" that was published in Rael's e-book Intelligent Design (pp. 130-132) by mentioning Richard Nehring's 1978 discovery of the "ring of oil" that plots major oil reserves on Gondwanaland (supercontinent more than 30 million years ago) and explaining it in light of the Raelian interpretation of the biblical Flood, i.e. Elohim nuking Earth.

Terusse contends that there was a "central explosion" around which this "ring of oil" formed and that the Elohim's bombs broke up the "original supercontinent". Yeah, right. X P

There are several problem's with Terusse's hypothesis:

First, the "ring of oil" is not exactly a circle as one would expect around an explosion. Also, according to Rael, the "Garden of Eden" was located near Greece and Turkey (p. 15)... that's hardly at the epicenter of the explosion.

Second, Nehring's map ignores other major reserves that don't fit in his weird oval or whatever... Behrendt (1983) critiqued Nehring's image and produced a more comprehensive map of world oil reserves based on older data. A 2000 USGS survey shows more detail. 

Third, Terusse and Rael assume a sci-fi variant of the outdated "continental drift" model and have no idea about "plate tectonics" which postulates how the stuff below Earth's thin crust is always changing it... check out: Raelism vs. Science: Pangaea

Fourth, Terusse misspells Nehring's name as "Nebring" and erroneously indicates the Hudson Institute (based in Washington DC) instead of the Rand Corporation (based in Santa Monica) as his employer. True, the origin of the Hudson Institute is tied to the Rand Corporation, but Nehring's 1978 report was published by the Rand Corporation. Of course, as with Rael, Terusse does not give any references. LOL

Fifth, fossil fuels take "geological time" to form... certainly not in a few thousands of years. Raelians can thus be branded Young Earth Creationists who like tie-dye. LOL

[RaelTV FAIL] Two New "LIES" About the Elohim

In February 2012, Rael made 2 "new revelations" about the Elohim in a RaelTV video:

First, Elohim don't continue to progress scientifically.
Number two, they don't travel in space anymore.

However, information in Rael's original writings in 1974-75 contradict the above (emphasis mine):

In the video, Rael suggests how intellectual pursuits do not lead to any happiness and that in order to be truly happy, one must stop studying and expanding their knowledge but instead just "be" without even thinking.

Are we to assume Rael's Elohim suddenly reached this epiphany only in the 40 years since Rael's alleged encounter? Or, has Rael figured out how to expand his membership base with more mindless and nonintellectual "happy" drones?? LOL

Raelism vs. Science: Raelism, Long Hair & Telepathy

After Rael made the comment, "another confirmation of Elohim’s messages ..." in regards to a Web article by Signs Of The Times (SOTT) claiming to explain: The Truth About Hair and Why Indians Would Keep Their Hair Long, Raelianews published an article titled: Why do Raelians keep their hair long.

The Web article, as summarized by Brian Dunning in Skeptoid #393, "tells the story of native American trackers who were recruited for the Vietnam War, but once given military haircuts, they lost their ability to track, and became useless to the war effort. So formalized testing was instituted, and it was confirmed that only trackers whose hair had not been cut were able to perform, and that cutting their hair caused them to score lower on tests where they had previously scored high. The story goes that the military then exempted native American trackers from regulation haircuts, and that some of the experimenters even chose to do the same."

According to the Raelian Messages:

The point about not shaving off any hair is very important. The human brain is like a huge transmitter, capable of sending out a multitude of very accurate waves and thoughts. In fact, telepathy is nothing more than that."

But this type of transmitter requires antennae, and the hair and beard are these antennae. That is why you should not shave off any hair if you want to make use of your transmitters. (Intelligent Design, pp. 35-36)

As such, the Raelianews article claims that the web article stands as a confirmation to Rael's special knowledge that hair "are [sic.] like antennae" that allowed native American trackers to "access a 'sixth sense'" as long as they were allowed to keep their hair traditionally long instead of very short as required in a standard military haircut. Note, though, Raelism would require one not to shave in order to acquire and maintain telepathic abilities.

[RaelTV FAIL] The Raelian Sandcastle

Raelian You Tube channel RaelTV has just released a video promoting their plans to build an "Embassy" for their imagined creator ETs to finally reveal themselves. It has some new CGIs of their embassy model, an excerpt from an old 1988 interview of Rael and some questionable images they imply is evidence for their Elohim.

Rael started his "mission" to welcome back the Elohim in 1973. In 1975, the Elohim expressed their desire to have their embassy be built "near Jerusalem". The last time, according to Rael's "official Messiah" website, Israel refused Rael extraterritorial land for building the "3rd Temple"/Embassy for ETs was 20 years later in 1993. Refusal by Israel will have dire consequences:

"In case of a final refusal from Israel, the Elohim will withdraw the protection they have always granted to the Hebrew State since its creation. Israel will then be destroyed and there will be a new Diaspora." 

In 1997, Rael apparently got permission to build the embassy anywhere on Earth (Intelligent Design, pp. 358-361). Then in 2003, Rael had declared what remains of his "mission" was to only build the Embassy:

"First, he claimed his mission was “50 percent complete.” He was referring to his mandate to spread the message. “It’s done. I’ve informed the entire planet of my message.” The remaining “50 percent” is building the embassy... Raël’s second announcement was that he had appointed Brigitte Boisselier as his successor. He expressed delight that she had found such an effective means of spreading the message. (Aliens Adored, p. 191)

This year will commemorate 40 years of Rael's NON-ACTION to build his Embassy... one wonders if his non-action is what is keeping Israel intact. Meanwhile, the most media coverage Rael's getting these days is from other "actions" such as their annual GoTopless publicity events which doesn't really help Rael realize his dream house.

At 3'06" of the video, Rael admits how he won't be able to ever convince everyone to help him fulfill his prophetic mission... he says "those who are ready will help us". To this effect, the producer of the video embeds popular images of UFOs to make a case for the existence of ETs. The problem is, those images are all either hoaxes or misrepresentations by "those who are ready". To date, Rael has failed to provide any convincing evidence of any flying saucers and thus has not been able to link UFOs to his Elohim. Raelians just have deep faith it's all true. : /
