In Rael's e-book,
Intelligent Design, he writes:
On that extraordinary day, 13 December, 1973, I found myself in a crater of an Auvergne volcano, the Puy-de-Lassolas. There, as I have already described, I met for the first time an extra-terrestrial man, or more precisely, the Eloha - singular of Elohim - whom I would meet at the same place for six consecutive days and who, for about one hour each time, would dictate to me the fantastic revelations of The Book Which Tells The Truth. (Intelligent Design, p. 136)
By converting Rael's e-book in PDF to
MS Word and then running a word count for
The Book Which Tells the Truth (Raelian Foundation 1974), we get the following statistics:
115 pages
33,404 words
149,902 characters
3,586 lines
Dividing the above with 6, we get how much Rael supposedly wrote in 1 hour:
19 pages per hour
5,567 words per hour
24,984 characters per hour
598 lines per hour
Dividing the above with 60, we get how much Rael supposedly wrote in 1 minute:
93 words per minute
416 characters per minute
10 lines per minute
The average human being hand-writes at 31 words per minute for memorized text and
22 words per minute while copying. In contrast, An average professional typist reaches 50 to 70 wpm.
Rael must have been quite a transcriber! Rael says he took notes while Yahweh spoke to him and after coming home, copied them up:
After returning home and classifying and copying up the notes I had taken, I realized the immensity of the task that had been entrusted to me. (p. 115)
It is possible, however, that Rael used
shorthand to record Yahweh's dictations. According to
Wikipedia, handwriting speeds of up to 282 wpm have been achieved in shorthand competitions. Unfortunately, Rael has not produced any original handwritten manuscripts of any kind to date for us to examine if he indeed originally used shorthand.
The chances of this possibility is raised when we consider how Rael was apparently told by Yahweh in his second encounter to "
correct a passage in the first message [they] gave [Rael] that [he] wrongly transcribed concerning an eventual intervention on [their] part to destroy humanity." (p. 150)
But, this mistranscription itself is curious as it was not in one single passage but actually spaced out in 3 different paragraphs (and 2 pages):
Otherwise, if humanity cannot calm its aggressiveness, if peace does not become your only goal, and you allow people to promote war, produce arms, test nuclear weapons, and maintain armies just to seize or retain power, then we will stop such people from becoming a danger to us, and there would be another Sodom and Gomorrah. (p. 94)
If you do not, however, and if you become a threat to us, we will only have to destroy your stocks of bombs without sending offensive weapons against you. We could do this with either rays, or telepathy, in such a way that, in effect, one of the great powers would become the aggressor, and this would automatically release a fatal retaliation. (p. 105)
You urgently need to stop nuclear weapons testing because you know nothing of the risks to which you are exposing yourselves. However, if humanity continues to play with nuclear weapons, it will simplify our task if we have to reduce you to silence. (p. 106)
Does all this mean, Rael was a sloppy speed-writer? Imagine, the Elohim also waited almost 2 years (666 days) until they even bothered to correct this mistake... a mistake that would portray his Elohim as
Space Invaders and his Movement a
Doomsday Cult!!
